North Jakarta Administration Launches Joint Action to Accelerate Stunting Reduction

North Jakarta Administration, Thursday (6/5), launched Joint Action to Accelerate Stunting Reduction to Improve the Health of Students, Pregnant Women and Mothers of Toddlers.

The activity held at Marunda Flat's Block D was attended by 200 participants from students of SMPN 290, pregnant women and mothers of toddlers, related regional working units, and collaborator Young Health Programme from Plan Indonesia.

Acting North Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Ratna Sari said the launching was also held at RPTRA Si Pitung and SMPN 290.

Ratna explained the launching event at Marunda Flat was enlivened with various activities. Among them were health checks, provision of blood-boosting tablets, education for pregnant women with materials on childbirth preparation, danger signs of childbirth and postpartum birth control.

Then then launching activity at SMPN 90 was enlivened by exercise activities and nutritious breakfast together, as well as education about reproductive health in adolescents and the effects of gadgets on children's mental health.

Meanwhile, at the RPTRA Si Pitung, activities were enlivened with providing food to babies and children, as well as education about violence against children.

"Acceleration steps need to be made although there has been a decrease in stunting prevalence of 0.1 percent in 2024," she explained.

In addition to the prevalence issue, Ratna added, the scope of sensitive interventions, namely the percentage of unwanted pregnancies in North Jakarta, is also still below the national target of 15.5 percent.

Intervention is needed since there were students have mild, moderate and severe anemia according to the results of the coverage of anemia screening for female adolescents in grades 7 and 10 in North Jakarta

"Hopefully this activity will become a culture of habituating healthy living behavior, as an effort to prevent stunting in North Jakarta," Ratna hoped.
